Look, Explore, Discover is a free trail which has been developed by year 3 pupils from Heron Hill Primary School, Kendal, Cumbria.

Group Visits
There is a special reduced rate for pre-booked groups of 10 or more, further information is available here.

Free for visitors and pre-booked coaches.

Access
As Blackwell is a Grade I listed buliding, some of the rooms do not have disabled access, however, we have a visual guide of these rooms available. Guide dogs are welcome.

A few restrictions
Copyright conditions placed on loan objects means that photography is not allowed inside the house. There are no picnic areas at Blackwell; however, there are suitable areas offering lake views along the A592. We cannot accommodate dogs (except service dogs) in the house or grounds.

Room Hire
Blackwell is open seven days a week to the public, therefore, opportunities for private daytime hire is limited, but we do offer our Education Room for private hire, further information is available here.

How to get here
20 minute drive from J36 of the M6, Blackwell is situated 1.5 miles south of Bowness just off the A5074 on the B5360. GPS Location - N54°20.572 , W2°55.319

Nearest train station is three miles away in Windermere, current train times are available on the National Rail Website. Taxis are available from Windermere Train Station and Bowness Pier (1.5 miles away).

Walking to Blackwell from Bowness will take around 30 minutes, please be advised that there isn't a continuous footpath, so you will have to walk along an A and B road for part of your journey.
