This
page contains all the details of the competition rules.
1.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 The Photographic Competition is a monthly competition open to visitors
to Blackwell who have purchased an admission badge to the house and
gardens or a Friend, Patron or Benefactor of The Lakeland Arts Trust,
except those employed with the Lakeland Arts Trust.
1.2 By entering into the Photographic Competition you agree to abide
by the following rules (‘Rules’).
1.3 No images will be returned.
1.4 You can use any type of camera to capture your images, as long as
the image is large enough for print reproduction.
1.5 The closing date for entries to the Photographic Competition is
the last day of each month.
1.6 The winning entries will be notified by the end of the following
month, the overall 2008 winner will be announced when we re-open in
January 2009.
1.7 The Champagne Gift will be sent to each winner.
2.
CRITERIA FOR ENTRY
2.1 Entries are validated by the ‘viewfinder 08’ competition
entry number or a Friend of the Lakeland Arts Trust member number.
2.2 The image must either feature The House, The Gardens or the view
from Blackwell. (Due to copyright restrictions relating to loans, no
photography is permitted anywhere inside the house.)
2.3 Please also include a title and date for your image, for example:

2.4 Image files should be larger than 2MB as this will be best for print
reproduction. Images submited online must be smaller than 5MB, but there
are no size restriction for entries submitted by post. No responsibility
can be taken by The Lakeland Arts Trust for images that are incorrectly
submitted.
2.5 Digital manipulation by software such as Photoshop is allowed.
3.
JUDGING
3.1 Photographs will be judged on how they best express the spirit of
Blackwell and its sense of place in the changing seasons and light.
3.2 The overall winner will be chosen from each month's winning photographs.
4. WINNERS
4.1 All winners will be notified by the end of the following month.
4.2 The overall winner will be notified when Blackwell re-opens in January
2009.
4.3 The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be
entered into.
5.
COPIES
5.1 Please ensure that you keep copies of submitted images. The Lakeland
Arts Trust will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safe storage
and back up of entries, but cannot be held responsible for exceptional
circumstances.
6.
PRIZES
6.1 Each monthly winner will receive a Champagne Gift and the image
will be displayed on the Blackwell website - www.blackwell.org.uk
6.2 The overall 2008 winner will receive a special prize and have their
photograph reproduced within one of Blackwell’s publication.
6.3 There is no cash alternative and none of the prizes are transferable.
7.
COPYRIGHT AND PERMISSIONS
7.1 By submitting images to the Photographic Competition, you confirm
and warrant that:
7.1.1
you are the sole author of each entry and that it is your original
work;
7.1.2 you are the sole owner of the copyright in each image;
7.1.3 where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their
parent/guardian is required.
7.1.4 you have not licensed or disposed of any rights in the image
that would conflict with uses to be made by The Lakeland Arts Trust;
7.1.5 you have received any necessary permissions from the owner(s)
of property included in submitted images for the usage rights required
by Lakeland Arts Trust;
7.1.6 you will be responsible for any claim by any third party in
respect of your entry.
7.2
All entrants grant Lakeland Arts Trust a non-exclusive, irrevocable,
royalty free license to reproduce, enlarge, crop, publish or exhibit,
in any media, the images for any purpose connected with the promotion
of Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House. This may include, but is
not limited to:
(a) inclusion on the website;
(b) use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional &
specialist press giving information about or promoting Blackwell and/or
the Photograph Competition.
7.3 All entrants also agree that the organisers can sub-license images
to the media for reproduction in
connection with the Photographic Competition.
7.4 Winning and Runners up entries give permission to be published in
items for sale exclusively from Blackwell. All published entries will
be credited in the publication.
7.5 Should any images other than winners or runners up be considered
for reproduction on or in an item for sale, the photographer will be
contacted and requested to waver any reproduction fee in favour of a
credit and the acknowledgement that they are helping the Trust.
8.
CHANGES TO THE RULES
We reserve the right to amend the Rules and if we do so, we will publish
the amended version on the website. It is your responsibility to check
regularly to make sure you are aware of any updated information. If
you do not agree to any changes to these Rules, then you may withdraw
from the Photographic Competition by giving written notice.
9.
BREACH OF THE RULES
Any breach of these Rules by you will void your entry. If a breach has
occurred, but is discovered after the award of a prize, we may require
the return of that prize.
10.
GOVERNING LAW
These Rules and the relationship between you and us shall be governed
by English law. Any dispute may be decided by the English courts or
those of any other part of the United Kingdom.
*All
proceeds from the sale of items will go to the upkeep and preservation
of Blackwell.
