CRAGWOOD
Designed in 1910 by Frank Dunkerley for Albert Warburton, an industrialist.
Gardens designed by T H Mawson. This beautifully understated Arts
and Crafts house is now a hotel. Open to non-residents. Tel. 015394

DAWSTONES
Built in 1904 on Lickbarrow Road, Windermere. Designed by Dan Gibson
for Alexander Millington Singh, a Liverpool merchant. The house
has been divided into three and the middle one is a B&B called
Gillthwaite Rigg, which has many original fireplaces and decorative

FAIRFIELD HOUSE
Situated on Brantfell Road, Bowness. It was the home of Annie Garnett
and was built by Pattinsons. Annie Garnett designed the gardens.
It contains a Voysey fireplace and is now a hotel. Open to non-residents

Situated on the Crook Road, near Bowness, this fine hotel has a

HOLBECK
GHYLL
COUNTRY HOUSE HOTEL
Built in the 19th century,
Holbeck Ghyll in Windermere was bought by Lord Lonsdale in 1888
as a hunting lodge. It is believed that it was he who commissioned
the Arts and Crafts features, such as the stained glass and oak
