Arthur Simpson’s design drawings and tracings from the Trust’s archive

Aspects of the Arts & Crafts Movement

25 October - 3 January 2011

The focus in the period rooms at Blackwell is currently with cabinet-maker Arthur Simpson. New loans of furniture produced for another substantial Lake District holiday home are displayed alongside pieces from the Trust’s own collection. In the first floor gallery rooms archive material, including original designs from the Trust’s Simpson archive, will complement the period room displays and the popular Barn Close display has been reinstated, which is the last opportunity to see textiles, ceramics, silver, furniture and designs on loan from a private collection.
