Blackwell is a Grade I Listed Building and has many different levels on the first and second floors. We have tried to make as much of the house accessible as possible by installing a lift to every floor. There are also cushioned window seats in every room, so portable chairs are not needed.
The ground floor is totally accessible to wheelchair users, however, two of the galleries upstairs are rendered inaccessible by a short flight of stairs. Photographs of the inaccessible galleries are available upon request.
We welcome the visually impaired to visit Blackwell. Service dogs are allowed throughout the house, although please be aware that there are delicate objects on open display.
We have two toilets for the disabled, one in the house and one
in the toilet block beside the tea room. A wheelchair is also available
for visitors to the house.
If you would like to talk to someone about a particular aspect
of the access to Blackwell, please call our general enquiry number
on 015394 46139.
