‘Six of One’ is sponsored by Arts Council England, through its Collecting initiative. Each week-long show will be held in Blackwell’s contemporary craft shop and will feature a single maker selected for the accessibility of their work. The first show opened on Thursday 6 March at 10.30am with London-based glass maker, Brett Manley. There will be an informal ‘meet the maker’ session in the afternoon offering an opportunity for a dialogue between maker and visitors. Blackwell will remain open until 8.00pm on the first evening of each show, and drinks will be available for purchase from the Tea Room. ‘Six of One’ has been designed to encourage contemporary collecting by taking objects out of the gallery environment and presenting them within a less formal setting. All of the pieces on display will be for sale. Arts Council England’s Own Art scheme, which is designed to make it easy and affordable for everyone to buy contemporary works of art and craft, will be available during each show. Shows open at 10.30am on:
